Marsha Collier, who is a contributing patron of the Center Theatre Group (Ahmanson/Mark Taper) and thus gets fabulous seats to opening nights, pre-theatre dinner and post-theatre cast parties at the Music Hall and their other properties gave me a wonderful Birthday Week present this year – opening night at “Ain’t Misbehavin” (My birthday is May 7 but Birthday Week cannot be too long).
Debra Walton captured the eyes of the audience with her animated performance.
Meeting Debra at the cast party was a treat. She is very charming. As one reviewer noted of her performance in Chicago, “Debra Walton’s arms alone are worth the price of admission…”
Ain’t Misbehavin’ is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Most of the music by Fats Waller in the show is from the 1929 – 30’s recession giving the feel good experience a timely perspective.
