Facebook Changes Post to Status Today

December 10, 2010 By Linda Sherman 3 Comments

Following up on recent Facebook changes, Facebook today slightly changed the interface where you update status on your Facebook personal profile or Page.

Facebook changed Post to Status.

I believe they are reacting to complaints from users that it felt like “status update” had disappeared during recent changes so they decided the word status was better.  What you do there is the same, post something on your or someone else’s wall.

It sure a heck confused me for a little while! Sometimes I just wish "they" would leave things alone! Also, there didn’t seem to be any notice of this change that I was aware of? Did I miss the announcement? Lol.

Nice to find your blog Linda! My number 1 issue with the new Facebook profile is the fact that one’s ‘status’ is now merely a wall post ready to be eaten alive by the volume of the community – instead of the current ‘framing thought’ of a person’s page. Personally, I think that this really limit’s one’s ability to give shape the voice of their profile…Its a similar problem to what is happening with Facebook Groups… a group leader has extremely limited space to persistently express the identity of the group… (basically just the title) very problematic..

Thank you Nate! It does seem that the Facebook personal lost much of its control on personalization in the last iteration.
