The house is still not ready yet but it’s good to be back on Island.
July 18, a fire alarm shorted in the house that alerted neighbors to water streaming down from the second floor to the first. The cause: a $5 plastic piece leading to the water tank in the master bathroom upstairs broke and water flooded – probably for more than one day. It was forced water, so it flowed quickly but at least it was clean water.
Water seeped into most of the walls which had to be taken down to the studs. Kauai is not generally a quick response kind of place but the “water extractor” and electrician arrived within hours of being contacted.
Day of discovery. When the door to the main house was opened, a flood of water gushed out.
Kitchen today – renovation still in progress.
I don’t know how people without an architect in the family respond to this type of incident. Ray spent many days on plans.
The guest house is full of boxes and doesn’t have a real kitchen but OK to stay in for this short trip.
We’ll be eating out a lot.
Granite looks great and I’m sure you are happy to see your lovely home. Happy New Year!
