Then I saw that Jim had checked into Centro Latin Kitchen. A quick search produced an explanation of the Bravo Foursquare tie-up from the NY Times, Mashable and TechCrunch.
Have you seen the Bravo badge on Foursquare and thought about what it meant?
Today I saw that Jim Turner @Genuine had unlocked the Bravo badge and I was curious what it was. Had he checked into his TV?
I wondered what the awareness level is for the badge by FourSquare users and if Bravo is getting any viral discussion from the game.
According to the Mashable article linked above, Ellen Stone, Bravo TV’s senior vice president of marketing has been very pleased with the FourSquare tie-up.
I am a regular geo-location platform user, including Foursquare and I hadn’t noticed talk of the Bravo badge till now. But I look forward to following how the tie-up evolves. I continue to be very interested in geolocation marketing. There should be good potential.

Just as a back story I checked into the Centro Latin Kitchen while attending the speaker dinner for Wordcamp Boulder. I noticed the Bravo badge alert come across my screen and wondered what the tie in was to the Bravo badge and the restaurant. I’m still not sure. I was checking into the different advertisers across the bottom of the 4square site, Bravo, TLC and History channel and some and was a little fascinated about the way they were using it. Thanks for the post and would love to know if you get a chance to speak to someone behind the scenes on the campaign.
Thanks for your feedback Jim. It certainly would be interesting to do some interviews. Since many of my clients are of the local search variety, I would like to start with Centro Latin Kitchen. I can see they’ve "claimed" their Yelp http://www.yelp.com/biz/centro-latin-kitchen-and-refreshment-palace-boulder so they (or the agency/consultant helping them) is probably hip to the benefits of local search.
